Zion National Park
So close, yet so far away. By lodging at the Grant Gulch House, you are close to Zion National Park, yet far away from the crowds at a secluded retreat just west of Rockville. You will enjoy a sense of solitude, yet be only minutes away from the park's spectacular scenery and nearby Springdale's restaurants, galleries and gift shops. Zion Canyon, the park's most popular destination, is only 10 miles away. The canyon's 6.5-mile scenic drive, traversed by mandatory shuttle from April to October, shows off towering sandstone monoliths that rise to heights ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 feet above the canyon floor. Some of the most famous of these natural formations are the Great White Throne, Angels Landing, and the Court of the Patriarchs, named for biblical prophets Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

If you are seeking to escape the tourist frenzy of Springdale and Zion National Park, lodging at Grant Gulch is a perfect choice. Grant Gulch lies away from the traffic of the main road through the area, State Highway 9. Located just west of the town of Rockville, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom vacation home is nestled only a half mile from the ghost town of Grafton. Abandoned in the early 20th century because of frequent flooding, Grafton boasts two restored buildings, a church/schoolhouse and the former residence of the Alonzo Russell family. The town has been a filming location for several movies, including "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." Grafton served as a backdrop for the scene in which Butch Cassidy (played by Paul Newman) rides a bike.
