If you are looking for solitude during your southern Utah vacation, put the Grant Gulch House at the top of your list of lodging options. Located only 10 miles from Zion Canyon, one of the most scenic spots in America, Grant Gulch is away from the crowds, just west of the town of Rockville. Aside from its location, Grant Gulch's best amenities are its stunning views from its many windows and large patio. It also boasts a hot tub, satellite TV, a washer/dryer, linens, a full, modern kitchen and comfortable sleeping accommodations for six people. Grant Gulch even has a telescope so you can get a better look at the night sky! Grafton, a notable ghost town, is only a half mile away. A filming location for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and other movies, Grafton contains two restored buildings (a church and the Alonzo Russell home) and a cemetery where early settlers are buried. Springdale, adjacent to Zion's south entrance, is only four miles away and features numerous restaurants, gift shops and galleries, some of which are open late.

Grant Gulch makes an ideal lodging headquarters when exploring Zion Canyon and the rest of southern Utah's scenic treasures. Zion Canyon, the park's most-visited area, is a showcase of colorful rock monoliths, hanging gardens and a diverse array of flora and fauna, including mule deer, wild turkeys, squirrels and lizards. From April to October, the only way visitors can access Zion Canyon is by shuttle bus. The views from the buses' windows and the narration the shuttle drivers provide will whet your appetite for more comprehensive exploration of the canyon's scenery. The shuttle ride provides great views of some of the park's signature monoliths, including the Court of the Patriarchs and the Great White Throne. The Emerald Pools Trail, the Weeping Rock Trail and the Riverside Walk are easy trails perfect for casual observers. Adventurous visitors will appreciate strenuous hikes such as Angels Landing, Observation Point and Hidden Canyon, which all provide stunning scenic viewpoints.
